Safety reports, PIF, CPNP notification

According to the applicable EU Cosmetics Directive, an individual safety assessment is mandatory for each cosmetic product. Manufacturers must provide the corresponding documents. We perform the respective safety assessment for your product for you.

WESSLING provides advice on implementing the German cosmetics regulations with respect to decorative cosmetics.

Safety report by qualified DGK safety assessors

Our team of qualified DGK safety assessors will provide you with a comprehensive safety report (EU, UK, CH), which certifies the safety of the product and supports you in the creation of the product information file - the so-called PID - and the notification to the CPNP.
We are also happy to advise you on regulatory issues, evaluate raw materials, check your INCI lists for conformity and check the marketability of your products.
Customers benefit from the many years of expertise of our expert colleagues at WESSLING. Our team is at your side throughout the entire process to ensure that your cosmetic products are properly placed on the market. To this end, we work closely with our accredited* laboratories and other partners.
You can also take part in our webinars on the subject of cosmetics and packaging materials or book our in-house training courses (on site or via webinar).

Testing laboratory accredited by DAkkS according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018. The accreditation only applies to the scope of accreditation listed in the certificate attachment [D-PL-14162-01-00].

„According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation, the compilation of a safety report is mandatory for every cosmetic product. WESSLING will be pleased to draw up the necessary safety report for your products, too.“

Safety assessment, product information file and notification of cosmetic products

With the European Cosmetics Regulation (Cosmetics Regulation), clear and binding minimum requirements for the content of the safety assessment, the product information file and the notification were defined for the first time.

The requirements for the safety of cosmetic products arising from European cosmetics legislation are recognised worldwide. The European Cosmetics Regulation regulates the requirements for safe use under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use for all cosmetic products made available on the market. The so-called manufacturer (according to the Cosmetics Regulation), any natural or legal person who places a cosmetic product on the market under their own name or trade mark, is responsible. To this end, the responsible person must provide proof of the conformity of the cosmetic product with Article 3 of the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009) before placing it on the market.

For this purpose, an assessment of the cosmetic product is carried out on the basis of the relevant information on the cosmetic product (raw materials, packaging, labelling, etc.) in accordance with Annex I of the Cosmetics Regulation and the resulting safety report is drawn up.

The responsible person must compile a product information file (PIF) before the cosmetic product is placed on the market. This file is kept for ten years after the date on which the last batch of the cosmetic product was placed on the market. The PID shall be easily accessible by the responsible person in electronic or other format to the competent authority of the Member State where the file is kept.

After the safety report and the PID have been created, the cosmetic product must also be notified in the CPNP (Cosmetic Product Notification Portal) before being placed on the market.

At WESSLING, you receive advice and expert opinions from a single source. Our strong network of cosmetics experts guarantees you the best possible service when preparing your safety report.
