We are surrounded by a wealth of diverse indoor products in our daily lives. These include building products such as wall paints or floor coverings, electrical appliances and also furniture. They can all potentially emit pollutants into the air that we breathe.
Stringent material and emission tests are therefore legally specified in some cases; in Germany, for instance, this is done via the AgBB scheme (Committee for Health-related Evaluation of Building Products).
Emission tests are therefore very important in ensuring the quality and safety of building products, electrical appliances or furniture. The most important analyses are those that take place in test chambers: here, the quantity of emissions escaping from materials or objects over a specified period of time is determined precisely. However, analysis of the hazardous material contents in the products themselves can also play a role in assessing conformity.
Complete sofa sets or kitchens can be tested in one go: WESSLING has an accredited* laboratory with test chambers of various sizes from 20 litres to 20 cubic metres.
Building products intended specifically for food processing companies are also tested by us. Information on resistance to cleaning agents, antibacterial effect or sensory suitability is required here in addition to emissions. WESSLING analyses the transfer of substances and the influence odour and taste have on food caused by the construction product, too.
Our analysis spectrum covers all relevant test regulations. The breadth of products ranges from candles or incense sticks, building products such as plaster, claddings or sealants up to and including upholstery and mattresses.
* Testing laboratory accredited by DAkkS according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018. The accreditation only applies to the scope of accreditation listed in the certificate attachment [D-PL-14162-01-00].

WESSLING is recognised as an expert test body for emission analyses by the DIBt (German institute for construction technology).
Our services in detail
Building products and indoor products have a major influence on the interior climate. The quality of the materials used can be confirmed through an emission test and distinguished by recognised certificates.
Basic markings such as general building authority approval (abZ) or the AgBB scheme (Committee for Health-related Evaluation of Building Products) can be extended to well-known test seals. These include the GEV Emicode of the Blue Angel.
The WESSLING test chamber laboratory is accepted by numerous test seals in the field of product testing. Products distinguished in this way are accepted as high-quality by quality-conscious consumers, and can therefore be positioned better on the market.
„The confidence of retailers and consumers in your products is a valuable commodity. Our analysis and emission test results serve to maintain this.“
