ECJ ruling provides guidelines on the status of CBD in cosmetic products
Legal certainty for producers and retailers of cosmetic products containing CBD: on 19 November 2020, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) rejected the European Commission's preliminary view that CBD is a narcotic in its ruling (ECJ on C-663/18 BS and CA). The ruling therefore allows CBD products to be placed on the EU market on a safe legal basis.
CBD extracts are widely used in the field of skin care and decorative cosmetics, for example in bath additives, creams or lipsticks.
