Testing of mycotoxins in herbal medicines
The quality and safety of herbal medicines, such as cannabis flowers, are crucial to consumer’s health. An often-overlooked danger is mycotoxins – that are toxic metabolites of mould which can occur in plant materials in addition to being harmful to health.
To ensure that herbal medicines do not contain any dangerous mycotoxins, such as aflatoxins or ochratoxins, we detect mycotoxins within our GMP analytical laboratory using the state-of-the-art HPLC-FLD method (high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection). The analyses is highly precise, so that detection is possible even at low concentrations. We can efficiently separate mycotoxins from other matrix components, in addition to utilizing the reliability of this method to meet all requirements for precise, accurate and linear analytical validation to suit all needs.
